Bamboo (technically a grass) is harvested based on its top growth; the roots of the plant remain in the ground and can grow back to maximum height in 3-7 years making it a rapidly sustainable material. Our bamboo Phyllostachys pubescen is supplied by Teragren. One of our favorite materials to work with, bamboo features great dimensional stability. We love the way the lines of the grain and its warm and luminous color impact the overall look and feel of a space. Whether a large or small space bamboo is a great alternative cabinet material.
The kitchen featured here includes splashes of bold color realized through 3form’s Chroma—with a 38% recycled content (9% post-consumer, 29% pre-consumer). We worked closely on the project with architect John Rafferty and interior designer Madeline Fucile both of Mitchell Associates located in Wilmington, Delaware.
